A little concerned, but thankfully, staying with my mother and sister has really relaxed me, and hopefully that will show at my appointments! I've told Con to take this alone time (he's at our house) and enjoy his short-lived bachelorhood...because in a couple of weeks it'll be ALL ABOUT THE FOLEY CHILD!!! I've been very fortunate in the last few days. So many old friends have shared their similar horror stories of their last couple of weeks of pregnancy. SO, it helps knowing I'm NOT just complaining to hear myself speak! In fact, an old friend from childhood, Jean, has told me she had the SAME exact thing happen to her before the birth of her son, Joey. Scarily though, poor thing, had to have a dose of Magnesium to get her bp down in the hospital. I'm still hopefull mine will stay under the dangerous limit. Also, another friend, Rachel, who had twins (a boy and girl...LUCKY! She got it over in one go!) was also similarly afflicted with the "bedrest" scenario.
I never thought about my age before. I still think of myself as about 25, even younger as Con would attest to! But, I guess you can't fool the body. Being 35 always seemed like just a number, but I realise know that it's true, younger women are a little luckier with their pregnancies. However, I wouldn't change a thing. I had the BEST time in my twenties, and early thirties...with a fabulous dose of nannying, I was able to have the benefits of both "mommy" and great weekends out with mates with no second thoughts about babies being left at home! The ideology of my life has changed though. I was already thinking about when Con and I can go out for a few jars after the baby is born, and then I remembered...babies and hangovers DON'T mesh!!! I look at this as a good thing...I'm so happy about being a mom, that I can live vicariously in the past about all my outrageous fun I had in San Francisco, the UK and Ireland!!! However, I'm lucky enough to have such a great family that WANTS to babysit, that Con and I will still have some sort of a social life. I will probably post again later, with the results of today's doctor visits. (I bet the few of you that love reading my blog are thrilled!) |
