Abbey's Website

http://www.abbeyfoley.tvheaven.com

Thanks so much for reading my pregnancy blog.  I no longer will be updating it, however, I will periodically update the photos on her new website.

Abbey says, "What?!  No more Adventures in Buddah Belly Land?!"

I will, however, be starting a new blog on Abbey's adventures
called...ABBEY'S ROAD!

Baby Foley grows up!!!

My darling daughter, who so graciously was born petite...is now the average size most babies are born!

Her first doctor's appointment went well.

She is in the 25th percentile for height and weight...and 10th % for head circumference.  Okay, so she DOES have my peanut head!

She was 6.2 at birth, she's now 7.11!!!

She was 18 1/4 inches, now she's 20 in.!!!

She also showed Doctor House how she can pull her head up, and look around.  She also tried standing on Dr. House's lap!  Overall she got an excellent bill of health.

She's changing so much these days.  She used to look the spit of her Da...now she looks like a mini-me!

I'm really enjoying her.  I'm so glad I have a good bit of maternity leave.

One happy mama!

I am over the moon!

Having Abbey has been life altering.  Yes, it sounds all new agey, but it's true!

She is the most wonderful thing Con and I have ever done together!  And, let me tell you, Con and I have had a great 3 years!!!  Burningman, many road trips, Ireland '03...
Abbey beats them all!

I'm exhausted, and so is Con...but it's worth it.  We can't stop staring at her...she's divine!

I am going to start a new blog, about Abbey that includes jpg.s (photos) as soon as I have some spare time...probably have it up and running by mid-June.  Please be patient...remember I had NINE MONTHS of waiting!!!

It's a girl!!!

Well...  She's finally here!  Kim and Corn welcomed a beautiful baby girl in to the world on May 10th (my birthday!!!) at 11:49 AM.  The little angel "tipped" the scales at only 6lbs. 2 oz. and was 18 1/4 inches long.  She is the prettiest little thing in the world!!!  (No, I'm not a biased, doting auntie at all...).  You guys be the judge... Here she is!

Pretty cute, huh?!  I know that Kim will be posting again soon, but until then I'll attempt to pretend to know what I'm doing and send out a message here and there.

Stay tuned!

'Fraidy Cat!

Here I sit...apprehensive and a bit scared about my induction tomorrow.

My nerves aren't steel.  I am starting to get that horrible feeling in my tummy...and it's NOT the baby!

I do know things are going to go well, and I'm going to be one happy mama on Tuesday...however, I think I'd be fooling myself if I didn't fret a bit.

So, to take my mind off it...I'm off to my sister's room to make the art piece for the baby's room...a large scale 3-D "yellow submarine."  And, my mother is going to finish the "Octopus's Gaarden" curtains tomorrow...what a lovely Mother's Day gift for me! (Oh, don't worry about my mom...she's getting some lovely summer sandals from Allie and me)

Con's at our house watching boxing I presume, and enjoying one last weekend of peace before his spawn is brought home from the hospital!!!

If I get a free moment tomorrow...I'll post another blog...if not, the next time you read the blog will be Allie's post of the birth of the most loved, and already over-indulged child ever born to the Muehleisen-Foley's!!!

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......................

How do you spell relief? I*N*D*U*C*T*I*O*N

I received the best news this morning at my LAST prenatal...

I'm being induced on Mother's Day.

I go into the hospital around 8 PM, they'll start induction...and hopefully sometime Monday, May 10...I won't have any more reasons to bitch and moan!!!!!!!!

My sweet little tax write-off will be in my arms sooner that expected.  WAHOOOOOOO!!!

Also, my doctor told me, some women are so relieved, that they actually go into natural labor before their induction!  Maybe baby...

The nice thing is...it's Allie's birthday (10th), and my own mother was in labor 33 years ago on Mother's Day too!!!  Nice tradition...

WATCH THIS SPACE...

If I'm not able to write my blog for a few days, Allie will keep it up!

Ultra Sound

All of you who were betting on the size of our baby...here's a hint...

The ultrasound showed that the baby is ALREADY 7lbs. 9 oz.!!!  And, they grow about a half pound to a full pound every week it's in the womb!!!  I'm still 13 days from my due date!

Otherwise, the ultrasound went well.  The baby was "practice" breathing, and the heart was again between 140 and 144 bpm.  This time, I also could see Con's profile.  And, they have BIG JUICY LIPS!!!  Oh, let's not forget the FEET...massive planks!!!  (just like Mommy!)

I'm still trying to induce labor naturally...hoping to get the ball rolling.  Maybe next weekend???  Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease

**************************

BTW, a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Pio and Marissa Mc Garr.  Marissa went into early labor (she was due the week after me) last night.  At 5:30 this morning, they delivered a beautiful baby boy.  Joshua weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz.

Waiting Game

Well, I am now trying to do everything to help Baby Foley speed along.  I'm following all the "safe" home induction remedies.

I am drinking red raspberry leaf tea, taking Flax Seed Oil, eating spicy food (which TG I have been able to do since I got pregnant!!!), visualizing the little snapper coming down the birth canal, accupressure on the "labor" points, and a few others (right, AB?!).

I'd like to deliver sometime in the next week.

Allie and Con have told me that weekends work best for them, so I will try to accomodate them! ;-)

Monday is my ultrasound.  Tuesday is another NST (non-stress test).  And, then my prenatal on Thursday.  I'd LOVE to have the baby by next weekend FOR SURE.  BUT, as stated before, s/he will be here 2 weeks from tomorrow.

I'm just impatient!

So, I'm asking all my wonderful blog readers...visualize my baby being born S*O*O*N!!!!

I thank you, and my aching body thanks you!!!!!!

Postmarked no later than May 16, 2004

Well, the bp is still high.  However, still no other signs of preeclamsia.  Which is good!

The non stress test was a little annoying...our little snapper wasn't having any of it!  They squirmed, and wriggled, and the heartbeat wasn't registering for half the time...over an hour NST this time!  BUT, because the baby is healthy enough, and their heartbeat was strong and spiked when it was supposed to, I was able to leave without having to wait for the aquired spikes of 155 bpm for 15 seconds twice in 10 minutes.  Thankfully!

So, the good news is...

BABY FOLEY WILL BE BORN NO LATER THAN MAY 16th!!!

So, everyone keep your calendars open!!!!!!

More poking and proding...

This AM I have another prenatal, and then an afternoon non stress test at the hospital.

A little concerned, but thankfully, staying with my mother and sister has really relaxed me, and hopefully that will show at my appointments!

I've told Con to take this alone time (he's at our house) and enjoy his short-lived bachelorhood...because in a couple of weeks it'll be ALL ABOUT THE FOLEY CHILD!!!

I've been very fortunate in the last few days.  So many old friends have shared their similar horror stories of their last couple of weeks of pregnancy.  SO, it helps knowing I'm NOT just complaining to hear myself speak!  In fact, an old friend from childhood, Jean, has told me she had the SAME exact thing happen to her before the birth of her son, Joey.  Scarily though, poor thing, had to have a dose of Magnesium to get her bp down in the hospital.  I'm still hopefull mine will stay under the dangerous limit.  Also, another friend, Rachel, who had twins (a boy and girl...LUCKY!  She got it over in one go!) was also similarly afflicted with the "bedrest" scenario.

I never thought about my age before.  I still think of myself as about 25, even younger as Con would attest to!  But, I guess you can't fool the body.  Being 35 always seemed like just a number, but I realise know that it's true, younger women are a little luckier with their pregnancies.  However, I wouldn't change a thing.  I had the BEST time in my twenties, and early thirties...with a fabulous dose of nannying, I was able to have the benefits of both "mommy" and great weekends out with mates with no second thoughts about babies being left at home!

The ideology of my life has changed though.  I was already thinking about when Con and I can go out for a few jars after the baby is born, and then I remembered...babies and hangovers DON'T mesh!!!  I look at this as a good thing...I'm so happy about being a mom, that I can live vicariously in the past about all my outrageous fun I had in San Francisco, the UK and Ireland!!!  However, I'm lucky enough to have such a great family that WANTS to babysit, that Con and I will still have some sort of a social life.

I will probably post again later, with the results of today's doctor visits.  (I bet the few of you that love reading my blog are thrilled!)

Baby Foley's twisted parents are: Kim, a native of San Francisco, that can't wait to take Baby to Disneyland, so she can go on the rides in Fantasyland WITHOUT embarassment. And, Con, a native of Cobh, Co. Cork, who thinks drinking Murphy's stout is an excercise routine..."elbow, mouth, elbow, mouth, see, Babe, I'm working out!" (God love the Irish and their wicked sense of humour!)
